New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) A series of events in the capital today marked the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru.
More than 5000 children studying in municipal primary schools of Delhi presented programmes of folk dances, mass PT drills, aerobatics, yoga and physical exercises at a function held on the occasion by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi this morning.
Lt. Governor of Delhi B L Joshi, was the Chief Guest at the "Bal Diwas" function held at Dr Ambedkar Stadium which saw the children present Basant Dance, Traffic Drills, Tamil Dance and Malkaham and Yogasans, leaving the spectators at the packed stadium enthralled.
The civic body had also made arrangements to bring 20,000 children to and fro from their schools to the function site.
On the birth anniversary of Pt Nehru, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee organised a painting competition for children.
The occasion also witnessed the NCERT Film club organise children and educational films shows for children and teachers at the Chacha Nehru Bhawan.
Later in the day, the Children films Society of India has organised a festival of films for children, to be held at the capitral's Siri fort auditorium till November 18.
The tenth International Childrens Theatre Festival, being organised by the National Institute of performing arts will also be the inaugrated. The festival will be held at three venues across Delhi - LTG Auditorium, Dilli Haat and PSK (Poorva Sanskritik Kendra - till November 19.
