Soha Ali Khan Swears By This ‘Gentle Game-Changer’ Lemon Drink for Gut Health: Full Recipe Inside
For many, mornings begin with caffeine. For actor Soha Ali Khan, however, that routine has taken a quieter, more mindful turn.
In a recent Instagram post shared on April 5, 2026, Soha revealed that she has swapped her early morning coffee for a simple lemon-based drink-one she describes as a "gentle game-changer" for her gut health. The shift, she explained, came from listening to her body, especially as hormonal changes made caffeine on an empty stomach harder to tolerate.
Why She Made the Switch
Soha shared that she is becoming more sensitive to coffee, specifically when drinking on an empty stomach, a sensation that many people experience yet overlook.
Hormonal imbalances, such as those seen in premenopause, can heighten such problems as acidity and bloating. Her morning drink, she said, offers a calmer alternative-helping her feel hydrated, balanced, and less jittery compared to caffeine.
Instead of a quick energy spike, the drink provides what she describes as a more "steady" start to the day.
The Gut-Healing Lemon Drink: Full Recipe
The drink is simple, accessible, and easy to recreate at home:
- Take half a glass of warm water
- Squeeze in half a lemon
- Add a pinch of pink salt
- Add a pinch of turmeric and black pepper
- Mix in overnight-soaked chia seeds
- Add freshly grated ginger
- Stir well, let it sit for a minute, and sip slowly
This is typically consumed first thing in the morning, followed by breakfast after 20-30 minutes.
What Makes This Drink Good for Gut Health?
Each ingredient in the drink plays a small but meaningful role:
- Lemon helps stimulate digestion and adds vitamin C
- Ginger is known to ease bloating and support gut movement
- Chia seeds add fibre, which feeds healthy gut bacteria
- Turmeric contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory properties
- Black pepper helps improve the absorption of curcumin
Together, these ingredients create a drink that supports digestion, reduces bloating, and promotes overall gut balance.
A Word of Caution
While the drink is simple, Soha also highlighted that it may not suit everyone.
Firstly, she recommended that one soak their chia seeds correctly prior to consumption since these will swell up when in the stomach; hence, it may become hard to digest. Moreover, those who have problems with acidity and even kidney stones must be extra careful.
Bottomline
What makes this routine stand out isn't just the ingredients; it's the intention behind it.
In an age when there is a rush to offer quick results and bursts of energy, such a practice appears to be rather slow and gentle on the body. This is because there is now an increasing understanding of the importance of balance.
