2006-year of amazing new movies
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal emerged as the 'Sabsey Favourite Comic Hero' while Soha Ali Khan was chosen the 'Sabsey Favourite Nayi Heroine' and newcomer Kunal Khemu the Sabsey Favourite Naya Hero' in the poll, the results of which were unveiled last night at a glittering ceremony. The glamorous Priyanka Chopra was selected the 'Sabsey Tez Sitara' in the poll.
The grand finale of the event was hosted by actress Ayesha Takia along with witty comic trio of Ranvir Shorey, Vinay Pathak and Suresh Menon. The show also saw scintillating performances by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, sultry Bipasha Basu, newcomer Shiney Ahuja and 'glam girl' Koena Mitra and Shreyas Talpade.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO of Star Sameer Nair said,''the year 2006 has been a landmark year for Bollywood. It has been a year of some amazing new movies, some thought provoking sequels and some great remakes. The box office has literally set ablaze not just in India but internationally too.'' Stating that the Savlon Sabsey Favorite Kaun International 2006, the only opinion poll for the fans of Bollywood, was a true reflection of a star's popularity as the winners are chosen by the fans themselves, Mr nair said,''the impact of Indian Cinema on the audiences is evident by the overwhelming response that we have received year after year. This year we were not only able to capture the frenzy and fervor that our Bollywood actors command on a national level but also on an international scale.'' The finale will be aired on Star Gold on December 30 at 2000 hours.
