Anju Modi's ICW '14: Fashion Trends

Fashion weeks happen for a reason. It happens so that designers can showcase their designs. But there is another more important underlying reason for having fashion weeks; the set the fashion trends for the coming season. This is because the celebrities pick their outfits from these new collections of designers. At the ICW 2014, we have already seen some landmark trends for the next season. In Anju Modi's collection for the ICW 2014 alone we can see 8 different trends that will rule the fashion season.

First of all; the colour palette of Anju Modi's collection was a definite change from the ongoing trends. Orange and coral are really hot on the fashion metre now. We see a definite shift towards blue, gold and yellow. At the India Couture Week 2014 last night, we also saw some other fashion trends like Mughal shawls and sheer drapes.

Dhoti Style

Anju Modi has used a dhoti instead of petticoats or churidars in this collection. Both male and female models sported dhotis as a style statement with formal suits or collared blouses.

Asymmetrical Hemlines

Anju Modi has brought back the style of wearing dual hemlines. Many of the outfits in this collection had asymmetrical hemlines. There was floor length silk hem and a shorter one above it.

Velvet Shawls

There was a Mughal touch to the collection brought in by these heavy velvet shawls. The shawls were really large and had sequined work on them.

Sheer Golden Drapes

Almost all the drapes in this collection were golden in colour and made from sheer organza fabric. Some of the drapes also had tiny sequins set into them.

2 Shades Of Blue

Two shades of blue were predominantly used in this collection namely; powder blue and ink blue. These two shades of blue put together gave a splendid effect to the outfits.

Ghararas Abode

There were a number of typical ghararas that were seen in this collection. Mainly, the outfits were made out of silk at the base and teamed up with a sheer net sheath.

Indo Western

We have rarely seen male models look so smart in printed pants and embroidered coats. Even the female models looked dapper in lehenga skirts and short collared jackets.

Kashmiri Embroidery

In a majority of the outfits displayed in Anju Modi's collection, there was preeminence of Kashmiri embroidery. This included the showstopper's outfit as well.
