All of us know that sunscreen protects our skin from the sun. We also use it to minimise the risk of falling prey to skin cancer.

But do you know the fact that most of us do commit some common sunscreen mistakes? Well, applying sunscreen to your skin doesn't mean smearing some cream on your body. It is more than that.
Applying it on all areas and ensuring that you apply it much before you expose your skin to the sun and using it on cloudy days also are some of the points to remember.
Now, let us discuss about some common sunscreen mistakes that we make.

Area
Most of us apply sunscreen while clothes are on. This will make you apply it to only a few areas. It is better to remove your clothes and cover all areas.

Right Time
Most of us don't know that we need to start applying the lotion at least half an hour before stepping out. So, just dabbing the cream before stepping out or applying it after going to the beach isn't the right way.

Sweat
If your skin is going to sweat or if you are planning to swim in a pool, get a sunscreen that is water resistant. Otherwise your protective layer gets washed away.

Cloudy Day
What to do on a cloudy day? Avoid sunscreen? No, UV rays still affect your skin even on cloudy days; so use sunscreen.

Lip Balm
Covering all areas and leaving your lips is not a wise idea. Using a lip balm that comes with sun protection is important.

Face
Get a separate sunscreen for your face. Never use the one that is designed for your body as your facial skin needs a sensitive product.

SPF
What about the SPF? Well, get a product that has a higher SPF. Using the ones with lower protection factor may not help you.
