Virabadhrasana
The asana derives its name from Virabadhra, the hero created of a hair from the matted lock of Lord Shiva to destroy the Yagna of the proud Daksha. Hence the name Virabadhrasana.
1.Stand in Tadasana.
2.Raise the arms above the head and stretch them to join the palms.
3.Inhale deeply and with a jump spread the legs apart sideways about 4 to 4 ' feet.
4.Exhale and turn to the right with the right foot 90 degrees to the right and the left foot slightly turned to the right.
5.Bend the right knee to form a right angle between the right thigh and the right calf, with the right thigh parallel to the floor and the right shin perpendicular to the floor.
6.The bent knee should be in line with the heel with not extending beyond the ankle.
7.Stretch out the left leg and have it tightened at the knee.
8.With the head thrown up, stretch the spine from the coccyx and gaze at the joined palms.
9.Hold the pose for about 20 seconds to half a minute with normal breath.
10.Repeat on the left side reversing the processes from positions 4 to 6.
11.Exhale and jump back to Tadasana
