Men with hearts, overflowing with gentle compassion, will never Have to go to the nether-world of darkness

Acts born of compassion build up a treasure in heaven for the man of virtue; such a man will never go the place of the condemned.

According to Christian teaching, any good done to 'the least of the brethren' would be taken into credit as something done for God himself. Mother Teresa's concept of doing 'something beautiful for God' whenever we do anything to help or succour the most neglected of the poor in this world follows the same idea.

The Holy Koran would say,

'If ye do good openly or keep it secret,
or forgive evil, lo! Allah is forgiving, powerful'.

The story of Abou Ben Adhem is also to the point here, in that it envisages the 'Record Keeper' of the heavens giving credit to all good works and compassionate acts quietly and systematically.
