Ramakrishna Slaps Rani Rasmani-A Spiritual Interpretation

It is a well known fact that Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was the priest of the Kali temple in Dakshineshwar built by a pious widow Rani Rasmani. Rani Rasmani is also a noted devotee of Sri Ramakrishna.
One day the master, who was utterly devoted to Mother Kali, was engaged in singing a song in the shrine in front of the divine mother. All of a sudden, He turned around and slapped Rani Rasmani. The master had read her thoughts that had strayed away from the Mother to a certain court trial.
The action of the master cannot be banished as ordinary. A possible spiritual interpretation can be arrived at with the deeper look into the happening. Living in the present or in the moment as instructed by masters bring about an integrated attention in the disciple. When the attention is integrated, thought patterns crumble making one stumble into the eternal. Ramakrishna's sudden, shocking slap could be to bring the attention of Rani Rasmani to the moment, to silence, than mere admonition.
