The Impact Of Rama Nama

An episode from the Ramayana reveals the impact of Rama Nama on those who uttered it.
Once as Rama and Lakshmana walked by the lake of Pampa, Lakshmana happened to notice a crow that behaved peculiarly. It was strange that it ran up to the water, bent down to drink, but ran back to the forest without even dipping its beak into the water. This happened several times, that Lakshmana asked Rama the reason for the strange behaviour of the bird.
Rama, the all knowing, took a look at the bird and said, “That crow is my devotee. It utters my name ceaselessly that it is unable to stop even for a moment to drink a little water"
Such is the power of Rama Nama. It imparts Bakti or devotion to a soul thirsting for eternal freedom.
All other thirsts are mere trivialities. The one who understands this is sure to attain liberation.
