A Marriage Made In Relief Camp!
Marriages are not always made in heaven. They are sometimes solemnised in relief camps in flood-ravaged Bihar! And cupid can strike at the most unlikely of places.
Ms Darun Devi of Saurbazar in Saharsa district lost her family members to the turbulent Kosi. However, she was rescued and brought to a relief camp in Singheshwarsthan.
Sanjay Kumar too had met the same fate and landed in the same relief camp.
After spending over ten days in the camp they gathered strength to face the tragedy that had befallen them.
Their sorrow brought them closer and love blossomed out of friendship.
On September 17, a wedding was organised in the relief camp. They tied the nuptial knot in presence of other camp inmates who acted as the 'baaratis'.
It was, however, a spartan affair. There were no sweets in the menu.
But it was more than compensated when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dropped by on Sunday and blessed the couple.
After showering 'aashirvad' on the newly-weds, Mr Kumar asked the District Magistrate of Madhepura to extend financial assistance to them to help the couple start a new life.
