Just milliseconds for men to judge pretty women
Just milliseconds for men to judge pretty women
It just takes a giffy for men to judge a woman by her looks, as to whether she would turn out to be a potential partner or not.
Experts claim that men measure partners according to the attractive physic as their 'ancient' genetic preference for attractive mates leads them . Research also support that men look into attractive face of the women to be fertile and continue the family offspring, which appeals to the man's survival instinct.
Whereas women take longer time to judge men for loyalty,as well as the well being of herself and the children once the partners are committed to each other.
Professor Mark van Vugt and Dr Johanna van Hooff, from the University of Amsterdam, and postgraduate student Helen Crawford, from the University of Kent, were behind this study. They tested men and women's bias towards looks by conducting a series of tests on 20 women and 20 men, making them to perform tasks at the same time recording their brain activity. And the task was that photographs of opposite sex including attractive and ugly pictures were displayed to the participants. The result shows in which men were distracted having glanced at beautiful women pictures while women focused on the given task.
Here is van Vugt says,"Men definitely have the most wandering eye but it is because they have evolved to pay attention to cues of fertility and one of those cues is facial beauty – it's not that men are shallow." quoted by 'the Telegraph'. He added saying,
"But we found they do make snap judgments about women, much earlier than was previously thought. They make that decision on whether a woman would be a good mating partner in milliseconds."
"This is something very ancient and a way of helping men find the best mate to produce children."
"Women were not distracted by attractive male faces because women need more proof of whether a man is a good mate.
"Women make that decision on behavior, whether a man is trustworthy and committed. They make their decision much later than men."
This study will be published in the Oxford Journal Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience.
