81 per cent of parents report that their children between the age group of 9 – 17 years use the Internet and access web sites without the permission and supervision of the adults.
46 per cent of parents say that their children of the same age group who access the Internet by themselves have their own social networking profiles on sites like Facebook, MySpace and BlackPlanet.
Large number of parents are concerned about loss of privacy and are worried about their children viewing pornographic material on the Internet.
Surprisingly, fewer number of parents are concerned about their children playing online games, being the victims of Cyber bullying or gambling.
Parents of girls who go online have different concerns than parents of boys who go online. Parents of a girls are concerned about sexual predators while those of the boys worry about boys viewing pornographic materials.
