Seashell Wind Chime
All you need
8 seashells (get it from the beach, or from any craft supply stores)
1 plastic coffee-can lid
Knitting yarn scraps
Liquid white glue
Paper punch or sharp needle
Get started
- Take each shell and glue it to the end of a short piece of yarn. Let it dry overnight.
- Punch eight holes equally spaced on the top of a plastic coffee-can lid with the help of a paper punch or a sharp needle. Punch two more holes on opposite edges of the lid.
- Push the eight pieces of yarn through the eight holes of the underside of the lid, by holding the lid with the rim facing up.
- Tie the end of each piece of yarn in a large knot, to ensure that the yarn will not slip through.
- Push one end of a large piece of yarn from the top of the lid through one hole. It should come out on the underside of the chime. Tie a large knot.
- Push the other end of the yarn through the other hole and knot it.
- Now the chime is ready to be hung near you window.
Silver Bells Wind Chime
All you need :
2 compact discs ( make sure that these are old ones and are not of any use to your parents )
4 silver bells
String or yarn
Glue
Scissors
Get started :
- Before you start determine your colour scheme. If the CDs are bright and shiny, use matching colored ribbon or yarn. If you would love to have a suncatcher effect, then make sure the labels of the CD is facing inward. This means you may want to use lots of golds or silvers.
- Cut a 16-inch piece of string to hold your wind chime together.
- String your bells on to the string so that when you hold the two loose ends of string in your hands, the bells swing freely at the bottom.
- Tie a knot, just above where your bells are hanging
- Slide one CD through both pieces of string and lay it flat on a table or similar working surface. You can even make a more elaborate wind chime by cutting the CDs into pie shapes and drilling a small hole in the top of each piece.
- String one large bell on one piece of string. Pull it down your string until it is 3-4 inches from the bottom of the string. (Your CD will be just below the bell.)
- Spread glue on both the CDs.
- Pull your already strung CD upward so that it lays tight against the last bell you strung in the center of your wind chime.
- String the second CD and pull it down against the first. Push the CDs together and allow it to dry for half a day
- Tie on a knot in the ends of your loose string, once it is dry and hang it.
