Urine Sample Can Now Help Detect Prostate Cancer; Must Have Foods For Good Prostate Health
Urine sample can help detect prostate cancer, check here for details.
One of the major problem that are faced by majority of cancer patient is that they get to know about the problem very late. By the time the problem is detected, the patient would have been in the third or the fourth stage of cancer.
Working towards this effect, researchers at the University of Texas at San Antonio are working on developing a non-invasive method to detect prostate cancer through urine sample.
Since cells from the prostate are shed into urine naturally, the new method, which aims to make use of a novel microscope based on a photonic crystal bio-sensor, could offer a more accurate diagnosis.

Prostate cancer is one of the leading cancer cancer-related deaths among men. In any form of cancer, early detection is the key to prevent any cancer-related deaths, according to the doctors.
Generally, blood samples are taken to test for prostate-specific antigen (PSA). If the PSA is found to be high, the patient is suspected to have prostate cancer and they are asked to undergo a prostate biopsy.

However, few of these tests fail to deliver satisfactory results. "As a result, a patient may undergo a biopsy he doesn't need, which is painful and could cause an infection" said Jing Yong Ye, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
