What Is The Cockroach Janata Party?

Before getting to Santy Sharma, it helps to understand what the CJP actually is.

Founded by 30-year-old Abhijeet Dipke, the Cockroach Janata Party is an internet movement that has captured widespread attention for its meme-heavy content and humorous commentary on unemployment, laziness, and the everyday frustrations faced by young people in India. The self-proclaimed "voice of the unemployed and lazy" has especially resonated with Gen Z and meme culture audiences, who continue to share viral edits, parody campaigns, and humorous slogans inspired by the movement.

Initially emerging through meme culture and satirical political content, the movement later evolved into a larger youth-driven online discussion around unemployment, inflation, education pressure, and governance issues. In short, it became much bigger than a joke, and that is precisely what drew celebrity commentary.

What Did Santy Sharma Actually Say?

Writing on his Instagram account, Santy Sharma stated that the "Cockroach Janata Party appears to be more of an internet drama than a serious movement," adding that many people follow trends without verifying the backgrounds of those spearheading such campaigns.

He also went further. He questioned the motives behind the campaign and criticised how many young users engage with viral trends online, saying: "Today, many people blindly follow trends without properly researching the background of individuals leading such campaigns. The founder of this so-called CJP has reportedly been associated with AAP and has shared multiple posts in the past that appeared critical of India itself."

He also reiterated claims made by a BJP leader, raising concerns that a large portion of social media support behind the movement reportedly comes from accounts linked to Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other what he described as anti-India narratives, and called on authorities to monitor such activities carefully.

Who Is Santy Sharma?

Santy Sharma is an Indian independent rapper, singer, and lyricist known for creating songs on trending social and youth-centric topics. Reports suggest that he belongs to Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, and has built a strong audience through independent music releases and social media content. He is active on Instagram and YouTube, where he regularly shares music clips, opinions, and motivational content with his followers.

He is not a mainstream Bollywood name, but he has cultivated a loyal following by positioning himself as someone unafraid to speak on the issues of the day, even when those issues are politically charged.

A Debate That Refuses To Die Down

Many social media users praised Santy Sharma for speaking about nationalism and digital influence, while others accused him of ignoring the genuine frustrations faced by India's younger generation.

His post quickly went viral across Instagram and X, generating thousands of reactions from supporters as well as critics. Some called his perspective a "genuine point." Others felt he was too quick to dismiss real grievances. A few fans pointed out that criticising a satirical party should not require questioning the patriotism of its followers.

Separately, authorities have also warned people about fake CJP membership links being circulated online for phishing scams and cyber fraud, a reminder that not everything trending is straightforward.
