The Cars In The Royal Wedding
The royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was held today. Here is a look at the cars used for the royal wedding to arrive at Westminster Abbey. The British royal family owns several classic and vintage cars and some of them will be used during the royal wedding.
Kate Middleton used the Queen's Rolls-Royce Phantom VI Landaulette. The royal car was custom built for the Queen in 1977. The roofline of the car was made higher than usual as the Queen used tall hats during her public appearances.
Interestingly, Prince William arrived at Westminster Abbey in a Bentley, a car brand that has been Rolls-Royce's competitor since several years. This particular Bentley car used in the royal wedding has been custom built for the Queen. It is taller, longer and heavier than a regular Arnage as it has been fitted with armoured bodywork to protect its occupants even from land mines.
The king in waiting, and the father of the groom, Price Charles, owns an Aston Martin DB5 convertible. He has converted the car so that it can run on bioethanol derived from White wine. He and his wife Princess Camillia drove in this car to the royal wedding.
