The name 'Mercedes' was adopted after Emil Jellinek's daughter 'Mercedes' which means 'grace' in Spanish. After a year Emil Jellinek changed his name to Jellinek Mercedes. He commented on his change of name as, " This is probably the first time a father has taken his daughter's name."

The brand's logo is the three-pointed 'Silver Star' enclosed in a circle. It symbolizes Gottlieb Daimler's ambition to provide powerful engines to travel on land, sea and air.

Gottlieb Daimler generally considered being the father of Modern Automobiles never liked to drive.

Mercedes- Benz SLR McLaren is ranked the eight most expensive of 2006, priced at 2,750 by Forbes.com. This is born out of collaboration between Mercedes and the legendary British builder McLaren.
