Rose Cake Recipe
Ingredients
For the Cake
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons rosewater
Pink gel food coloring (optional)
For the Rosewater Buttercream Frosting
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons rosewater
Pink gel food coloring (optional)
Edible rose petals (for decoration)
How To Prepare
1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
2. Prepare the Cake Batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined. 3. Add the softened butter and mix on low speed until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3. Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and rosewater until well combined. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth and well incorporated. If desired, add a few drops of pink gel food coloring to tint the batter pink.
4. Bake the Cakes: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
5. Prepare the Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the milk, rosewater, and a few drops of pink gel food coloring, if desired. Beat until smooth and creamy.
6. Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate or cake stand. Spread a layer of frosting evenly over the top of the cake layer. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
7. Decorate with Edible Rose Petals: Garnish the cake with edible rose petals or whole rose of any colour for a beautiful finishing touch. You can arrange the petals in a circular pattern on top of the cake or scatter them around the edges.
8. Serve and Enjoy: Slice the rose cake and serve it to your loved ones on Valentine's Day. Enjoy the delicate flavor of roses and the sweetness of this romantic dessert!
This homemade rose cake is a delightful treat that's perfect for celebrating love and romance on Valentine's Day. With its soft, moist crumb and fragrant rosewater flavor, it's sure to impress your special someone and make your Valentine's Day celebration even more memorable.
