6 Ways To Deal With Sexism At Your Workplace
The world has grown by leaps and bounds but what remains unchanged is the attitude of some men towards women. Even in 2015, sexist jokes and sexual harassment are still rampant and do not seem to cease any time soon.
It is important for women to learn how to deal with sexist comments. The prejudice has to stop and people making these comments or gestures should be held responsible. While the sexist person might actually think that it's funny, others might not see the humour in it.
There's enough to worry about as it is in a company. They shouldn't have to think about ways to deal with sexism at work. It's sad that even today women have to go through this. But fret not, we round off the ways to deal with sexism at your workplace. Read on!

Sexist comments are always made to gain a response from you. Sexism at work includes crude sexist jokes or speaking about inappropriate things. The best way to deal with them is to ignore them, as these guys are mostly attention seekers.
Role Reversal
The thing about sexism is that the perpetrator is mostly putting up an appearance of being tough. If and when you hear something sexist, respond along similar lines. The thing about dealing with sexism in the workplace is that if you don't play according to his rules, he will be thrown off track.

Tackle Them
At times, the person who is making sexist jokes at work might not even be realising it. It seems totally normal to him. In such cases, it will work wonderfully well if you tackle them on a one-on-one basis, explaining how you feel.
Express Your concerns
There is nothing wrong if you feel scared of the person and don't respond to his advances. Here's how to deal with sexism in such cases. Approach the top level management and express your concerns. You wont have anything to worry about after that.

Form An All Women's Group
Forming a support group for women who underwent similar experiences such as yours will be helpful in the long run. A group is always feared more than a single individual. It is also easier to back your claims while approaching with complaints of sexism at workplace.
Consider another job
No job is worth more than your self-respect. If the person doesn't relent to any of the measures you take to stop him, then it's better to join a better workplace. Also, if you're wondering about a job change, it means that the management didn't do anything to help you out. So it's better to quit and look for work someplace else.
