National Sports Day in India is celebrated on 29 August every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, a legendary hockey player. This day aims to promote and encourage sportsmanship and physical fitness among citizens. Major Dhyan Chand was one of the greatest field hockey players in history and he won three Olympic gold medals for India in hockey (1928, 1932, and 1936), showcasing his exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.
