Exotic French Food Names To Tempt You
French cuisine is one of the most famous cuisines in the world. There is famous saying that a French cook can do magic even with limited ingredients. That is why French food names are just as exotic as their tastes. In fact, many of French food names have been adapted into English and we use them frequently without our knowledge.
No, we are not talking about French fries. Crisp and deep fried potatoes have absolutely no place in the suave French cuisine. But there are some other French food names that we use in our day to day life without knowing their origin. For example, the term 'casserole' that usually refers to a pot of slow cooked curry with meat is actually a French food name. The original word in French is 'Cassoulet'.
There was a time, when posh restaurant menus were written only in French. Needless to say that French food names were considered to be the most sophisticated. It was also a status symbol to have a French cook serve gourmet food at your table.
So to re-live those 'good-ole-days' here are some of the French food names that will really tempt you.
