Palanivel said that some couples were applying for divorce after less than a year of marriage, which is leading to many social problems in the country.
He further said that married couples must realise that the key to sustaining a long and happy marriage were mutual understanding, cooperation and adjustment. For a marriage to succeed, both husband and wife must be committed to its success.
Married couples do not share a blood relation. It is an institution marking the union for two individuals. Thus both the couples should attempt to make it work.
Palanivel also called on Indian religious and social organisations to work together to find a way to reduce the divorces issues among the community.
