According to the research, the Oscar stands 13.5 inches tall and weighs 8.5 pounds. It is made from an alloy of Britannium, which consists of tin (93 percent), antimony (5 percent), and copper (2 percent). It is finally touched with 24 carat gold plating.
Though this has been the traditional method for making the Oscars, the World War 11 saw the golden statues made out of plaster. This was due to the scarcity of the metals at that time. However, after the war the plaster Oscars were dutifully replaced by the original golden ones. AGENCIES
