In their desperation to acquire the job, the applicants are bragging, begging, singing, and even getting tattooed to become tropical island's new caretaker.
The campaign has been successful in attraction a global response with over 2.3 million people visiting the website, according to the Tourism Minister Desley Boyle.
"We have been absolutely thrilled by the response which has seen people from Paris to Mongolia and Kazakhstan to Chile logging onto the website," News.com.au quoted Boyle as saying.
"They have been talking about it everywhere from online blog sites to local pubs, from work places to around the dinner table at night it has captivated the world," he added.
The 'best job in the world' involves six-month of accommodation at the luxury Hamilton Island villa, explore the reef, its islands and wildlife, swim, snorkel and blog about the entire experience. AGENCIES
