Documentary On Kalam Launched
Chennai : "A Little Dream", a 60-minute CD documentary film, capturing the journey of former President A P J Abdul Kalam's life from Rameswaram to Rastrapathi Bhavan, was launched here today.
The 60-minute English film, scripted in the style of "story-in-story", was produced by Minveli Media Works. It was scripted and directed by P Dhanapal.
"Importance of Education", is the theme of the film, which contains sound and video bytes of important people associated with Dr Kalam.
His contributions in Science and Technology, rural project and India Vision 2020 and his interest in music, poetry and art have also been captured.
Noted danseuse and actor Shobana has played the lead role in the film for which Dr Kalam has given an exclusive interview.
The documentary ends with a visual presentation of a poem "A song of Youth", written by the former prisident Dr Kalam.
The film, released by Dr Kalam at an impressive function, was supported by Classic Polo and TAFE.
The Tamil version of the film would be released in a month's time, Mr Dhanapal told reporters.
At the function, Dr Kalam also launched "Inaindhu Naam 99", a new initiative by Siraku, an NGO, and Confederation of Indian Organisations for Service and Advocacy (CIOSA), which was committed to transforming India into a developed country by 2020.
Under the programme, a total of 66 budding social entrepreneurs, who would take up one specific topic of the micro level objectives, and 33 mentor organisations would offer training to aspiring youth and involve themselves in macro level objectives of Siraku.
