First Edition Of Bond Novel To Be Auctioned
The first British edition of 'You Only Live Twice' written by Ian Lancaster Fleming, the creator of the world's most famous spy 'James Bond', is set to be auctioned in Los Angeles on December 11.
Some of the researched reports state that Ian Fleming while working on his first novel 'Casino Royale' had been on the look out for inspiration – a name for the character that would carve itself an undisputable niche.
It was his chance glance of 'Birds of the West Indies' by American ornithologist James Bond, that led him to title his character that would be the mot loved world wide.
'You Only Live Twice', bears Fleming's scribble, "To the real James Bond from the thief of his identity, reports Contactmusic.
Graham Thomasin his website states that Ian Fleming made two trips to Japan, to draw inspiration for his penultimate James Bond story, 'You Only Live Twice'. He spent two weeks touring the country, accompanied by an Australian journalist Richard Hughes, and Tarao 'Tiger' Saito, an editor, photographer and architect.
The novel will be amongst other Fleming/James Bond items put up for sale including a second draft original handwritten manuscript for its film adaptation, signed By Roald Dahl, and Fleming''s personal annotated first British edition copy of 'From Russia, With Love'.
Fleming in his writing career wrote twelve adventures novels of James Bond and nine short stories. Additionally, Fleming wrote the children's story 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and two non-fiction books. In observance of what would have been Fleming's 100th birthday on August 12th 2008, Ian Fleming Publications commissioned Sebastian Faulks to write a new Bond novel entitled 'Devil May Care'. The book was released on May 2008. According to the latest updates James Bond novel by Sebastian Faulks, smashed sales figures, by becoming Penguin's fastest selling hardback fiction title ever.
