E- Scheme Launching Today
New Delhi : President Pratibha Patil will launch the E- scheme here today.
The E-, also called biometric s, will carry a chip that will have entire personal information, including fingerprints, of the holder in a chip.
These s will initially be launched for diplomats and high-ranking government and will gradually be rolled on for the 'aam aadmi".
The E- will carry the biological features and facial imprints of a holder and will be at par with international civil aviation standards.
The step is aimed at curbing misuse of , including through impersonation and make immigration process easier.
