Amitabh on Ash's Acting
New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) Putting at rest speculation over the Bachchan family's take on Bollywood actor and their prospective aughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai continuing to act after marriage, mega Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has said this was for Abhishek and her to decide and that personally he had no problems in this regard.
''It is something that has to be decided by Aishwarya and Abhishek. There is absolutely no problem from my side,'' Amitabh said in an interview to 'Aaj Tak' news channel.
Speaking to India Today's Editor Prabhu Chawla on the channel yesterday, the Big B, as Amitabh is known among the legion of his fans, also sought to clear the air on whether Aishwarya would act only with Abhishek.
''She can act with any one she wants. It is for her to decide,'' the legendory actor said.
Asked about the date of the Aishwarya-Abhishek marriage, Mr Bachchan said things were still being worked out with Aishwarya's parents in this regard.
Asked whether they would be man and wife by the time of their world tour in July, Mr Bachchan said, ''let us hope so. If not, they will certainly be travelling together as husband and wife to be.'' During the interview, Mr Bachchan, for the first time, acknowledged rivalry between him and Bollywood current heartthrob and the new host of the popular game show Shah Rukh Khan.
''Yes, there is competition between the two of us....it is healthy to have competition,'' he said.
On the Bollywood 'Baadshah' Shahrukh's recent attempt to reprise in Farhan Akhtar's remake of 'Don' the role played by him in the 80s thriller, Mr Bachchan declared his preference for the original. ''I felt the changes to the original script were not required...and I prefer the original.'' In the interview, he also praised Abhishek's performance in the recently-released 'Guru', a film inspired by the life of industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani.
Mr Bachchan also sought to clear air over the controversy about him being the brand ambassador for the Samajwadi party-led Uttar Pradesh Government just ahead of the Assembly polls in the state.
While acknowledging his close ties with SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and party leader Amar Singh, Mr Bachchan said,''I'm an ambassador, and I will promote the state for investment, but that does not mean I will get into political campaigning.''
