Surya and Jyothika, the hottest pair on the Tamil silver screen
Surya and Jyothika, the hottest pair on the Tamil silver screen, tied the knot in real life at a simple ceremony here today.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, State Ministers, political leaders, a galaxy of film stars and eminent personalities were among those who blessed the couple, who entered the wedlock after a long courtship.
Surya, the son of veteran Tamil actor Sivakumar, tied the 'mangalsutra' on Mumbai girl Jyothika, who is actor Nagma's younger sister, amid chanting of vedic hymns.
The marriage was conducted as per Tamil tradition. While Jyothika looked stunning in a pink Kancheepuram silk saree, Surya, the heart throb of youngsters, was attired in silk shirt and dhoti.
Ms Jayalalithaa, who attended the reception which was held an hour after the 'muhurat,' blessed the pair and presented them with traditional 'kuthuvilakku.' Both Surya and Jyothika made their debut in 'Poovellam Kettuppar,' a film on young lovers, some eight years ago. They also paired in blockbuster 'Kakka Kakka,' 'Uyirile Kalanthathu' and 'Mayavi.' Their latest film 'Sillunu oru Kadhal' is running to packed houses.
A thick security blanket was thrown around the star hotel where the ceremony was held, in view of the VVIPs' attendance.
