Kapurthala, Apr 1: 'Everest' a movie on the highest peak in the world was screened today at the Pushpa Gujral City Science Centre here.
Filmed in IMAX photography, the movie brings alive the story of the Himalayan peak and features the first large format images ever brought back from Mt Everest. The movie was launched by Ms Dicky Dolma, the youngest woman in the world to climb the Mt Everest at the age of 19.
Produced by Arcturus Motion Pictures the film is co-directed by David Breashears who himself summitted Mt Everest to bring back this remarkable chronicle on the large screen.
The stars in this educational film are expedition members themselves including and a number of Sherpas who helped carry the heaviest IMAX cameras ever to film on the highest peak.
The film also contains fascinating information about how this mountain was formed and continues to evolve, how high altitude challenges a climber's physical and mental capabilities and how Sherpa culture and tradition premeates the Mount Everest experience
