Seven selected for awards
New Delhi, Nov 13 (UNI) Prof Hamidi Kashmiri of Srinagar, Prof Kabir Ahmad Jaisi of Aligarh, Mr Izhar Asar of Delhi and Mr Aleem Saba Navedi of Chennai are among the seven people who have been selected for this year's prestigious awards.
The other awardees are Prof. Aslam Parvez, Mr Balraj Komal and Mr Shahid Anwar (all from Delhi).
Prof Kashmiri has been selected for the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Ghalib Award for Urdu research and criticism, while Prof Jaisi gets the award for Persian research and criticism.
Prof. Parvez has bagged the Ghalib Award for Urdu prose and Mr Balraj Komal for Urdu poetry.
Mr Anwar has been selected for 'HumSub Ghalib Award' for Urdu drama, Mr Navedi for 'Total Literary Services' and Mr Asar for 'Literary Services for popularising science in Urdu'.
The awrads, which were announced by Ghalib Institute Chairman Nazir Ahmad, carry Rs 40,000 each, an insignia and a citation.
The awards will be presented on the occasion of the inaugural function of the International Ghalib Seminar, slated to be held here on November 15.
