We all know that plants are a source of clean air. The more plants we have in our vicinity the better the air quality. But did you know that there are plants that have additional qualities of cleaning the air? They are detoxifying plants for home and surroundings thereby giving us cleaner and healthier air to inhale.
Given here is a list of plants that can be placed at home or at the workplace to get detoxified air & ways to make house smell good.

• English Ivy
These glossy plants are climbers and come in a variety of shades. They can easily be planted with minimal care needed. Climbing up walls they cover a good area and effectively remove benzene from the air. They are also capable of minimizing airborne fecal particles thereby improving the quality of air.

• Aloe Vera
Thick, succulents and easy to grow – the aloe vera belongs to the lily family and is a very effective air cleaning agent. The leaves absorb chemicals from the air making it cleaner and safer. As a warning sign the leaves develop brown spots when the chemical levels go high.
• Areca Palm
One of the effective detoxifying plants for home happens to the simple yet elegant looking areca palm. This leafy plant is a massive supplier of oxygen to the air and a highly effective cleanser of formaldehyde.

• Peace Lily
As the name goes this plant is a harbinger of peaceful air around it, or let us say clean and healthy air. Check out the chemicals it filter – benzene, formaldehyde, xylene, ammonia, toluene and trichloroethylene.
• Rubber Plant
The broad and glossy leaves of the rubber plant are excellent to absorb toxins like formaldehyde, benzene and ammonia from the air. They are, however, a bit too demanding and require good amount of sunlight and watering. But the efforts are worth its detoxifying qualities.
• Golden Pothos
A beautiful and bright green vine is the golden pathos. Of its many qualities it is an efficient absorber of formaldehyde. This vine is pretty fast growing and may require a bit of trimming on a regular basis.

• Money Plant
Formaldehyde is just one of the toxins this plants filters out. Besides purifying the air and improving its quality the money plant is also known to bring good luck to the owner. So next time you go visiting friends you might as well gift a money plant.
• Mother-in-laws Tongue
With a rather strange name these long leafed plants that detoxify home and surroundings happen to be an evening oxygen supplier. This makes them the perfect plant for a bedroom. Though they are helpful to the owner as they require minimum help for survival withstanding extremes of conditions.

• Spider Plant:
The name is creepy but the plant is not. The thin leaves and small white flowers not only look beautiful but also help get rid of toxins like benzene and carbon monoxide from the air.
