Ideas For Traditional Curtains:
- Firstly, it will be great if you steer clear from gentle or light colours. Pastel shades and muted tones do look very sophisticated otherwise but during a festival that is so bright, they will be considered dull.
- Just look at the clothes you wear during Navrati pooja for inspirations. Lenhga cholis, bright saris and salwar kameez, etc. the bold colours of your traditional curtains should justify the bold colours of your clothes. Only then will it be a balanced traditional home decor.
- If you are not satisfied with the catalogues of all the drape shops you have tried then we have a better idea that is both inexpensive and easy. Use the dupattas of your traditions outfits like gragra choli, salwar kameez, etc as drapes.
- Let them not be worn out cotton duppattas. You could easily choose the duppatas of the dresses you have out grown. Bandini garments make very good traditional curtains. You could mix and match according to your taste; it doesn't have to be uniform at all because as far as colours are concerned, the more the merrier.
- If you choose a colour theme like red for your living room then all the curtains will be red but the patterns can be different. Use your plain silk, your sister's zardosi duppatta, your daughters zari border dupatta all together to give an unity in diversity look.
- On the other hand, you can also choose to have a theme of patterns and choose different colours. So if your theme is block prints then you can drape a melange of colours in with block prints on your windows make it look absolutely gorgeous.
- Have you ever seen the inside of an old haveli? It is rumoured that they used real benarasi sarees as curtains. Now we all know the price of benarasi sarees these days and you are already looking away calculating a huge investment but wait and think.
- All women have a trunk full of expensive sarees that are of no use either because their exquisite threads are peeling off or they are too old to wear that they have not been maintained properly. Could not spare them for your home decor?
- If you are a new homemaker you can go for cheap silk imitations of these sarees for Navrati decorations.
Use these curtain ideas to drape your home during Navratri pooja.
