Does water have an expiry date? How long is bottled water safe to drink? Does water in glass bottles expire? Read on to know.
Many Indians still use ground water or well-water whose age could be centuries! When water which has been there on this planet for centuries, never gets perished then why do water bottles come with expiry date?
This is a question that bothers most of us. Also in these days, most of the bottling brands can't be trusted as the water they sell isn't up to the standards.
Now, here are a few facts about water and its so-called expiry date.

Fact #1
Water never gets spoiled. Foodstuffs do. Even salt and sugar do not get spoilt.

Fact #2
Then why do water bottles carry expiry dates? Well, bottling companies need to follow certain rules to let the consumers know when it is best to use the product.

Another reason to take the expiry date seriously is chemical reactions. Yes, the plastic bottle may start leeching chemicals into the water after a period of time.

After chemicals get into the water, it may not be considered fresh anymore.

Water is not a perishable product like meat or vegetables. Water is good forever but the container could make all the difference in making it safe or unsafe to drink.

Several other factors that could impact the water purity are exposure to heat, chemicals, storage materials and contaminants. So, try to use the water bottle before its expiry date to be on the safe side.
