Eating Mistakes You Are Making After Menopause
Menopause leads to slower metabolism and decreased levels of oestrogen. This in turn leads to weight gain in women. To avoid weight gain and stay healthy, women do certain things that do not prove to be fruitful in the long run. Here are some things that women should not do after menopause:

Intake of excessive calcium
As bone density declines after menopause, post menopausal women tend to increase their intake of calcium to a great extent. However, too much calcium intake leads to constipation, heart disease and kidney stones.
Hence, in order to maintain their bone health, women should rely on exercises and take correct levels of calcium.

Having too much red wine
Red wine is not bad for you, but it is also not a health food. Too much consumption of red wine can lead to heart attack and breast cancer, both cases post menopausal women are susceptible to. So, reduce your intake of red wine to half a cup each day.

Stopping sugar intake
Do not stop the intake of sugar altogether in order to maintain your weight. Have less of refined sugar products like cakes, pastries and cookies. Go for the natural ones in the form of fruits and vegetables.

Sticking to hard and fast rules about eating
Post menopausal women should not be told when to eat and how to eat. Some women stay healthy with three heavy meals a day, while some prefer smaller and more frequent meals. Choose what is best for you and stick to it.

Preferring fat-free foods
Opting for fat-free food can lead to cutting out even the healthy fats from your diet. Instead, stick to plant-based sources of fat that are rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin E.
Relying too much on soy food
Soy contains compounds that have the similar effects that oestrogen has on our body. However, it can prove to be fatal for women who suffer from thyroid or have a history of cancers. The hormone-like attributes of soy can cause cancers that are linked to oestrogen levels.
