Summer Health Tips: Why You Should Drink Jaljeera This Summer Season
The summer is already here, and recipes for jaljeera water are readily available on the internet. During the summer, you can often find trolleys of Jaljeera lined up along the streets.
Typically, the jaljeera drink is kept in a giant matka wrapped in a cloth to keep it cool, and is surrounded by mint, coriander, and masala leaves. It is very refreshing and gives you a boost of energy immediately after drinking it.

The main ingredient of this spiced beverage is cumin, but you should not confuse it with cumin water.
In Jaljeera, roasted cumin powder, ginger powder, herbs such as coriander and mint, garam masala, chilli powder, pepper, and black salt are used to spice the beverage. A bit of tamarind powder or dry mango powder may be added to the drink to give it a slightly sour flavour.
The drink is usually served during the summer months. It can also be consumed prior to a meal since it enhances your appetite and activates your taste buds.
Here are 4 reasons to drink jaljeera water this summer season
Why You Should Drink Jaljeera This Summer Season
1. Perfect for summer
The jaljeera can be consumed as a preventative measure against scorching heat and excessive perspiration caused by heat. Jaljeera is known for its ability to act as a natural coolant in such cases. As a natural coolant, it keeps the body hydrated and cools your system. In addition, it perfectly balances the electrolytes and fluids in the body [1].
2. Aids digestion
Jaljeera is made with black salt which facilitates digestion, while cumin also aids in digestion by relieving intestinal gas, acidity, and heartburn. Moreover, jaljeera contains other ingredients that also have strong digestive properties, which makes it a good digestive as well, such as peppermint, ginger, and coriander paste [2].

It is therefore recommended that you drink jaljeera after one hour of eating your meal whenever you experience digestion problems in the summer. It will cure your digestive problems within a matter of minutes.
3. Relaxes your stomach
The ginger, or ginger powder used in the jaljeera drink, is great for treating nausea that some people may experience due to the heat. Ginger can also be used to treat abdominal cramps due to indigestion.
By sipping the beverage and taking in all the spices, the spices are absorbed into the system through osmosis, which kills all microorganisms within the system [3].
In addition, the beverage contains a significant amount of salt, so people with high blood pressure should avoid it.
4. Boosts appetite
In summer, it is common for your appetite for food to decrease. However, a minimum appetite is required, to consume at least some food to keep your body functioning. Due to the aromatic oils present in cumin seeds, jaljeera helps to increase appetite [4].
The aromatic oils stimulate gastric secretions and appetite, so if you lose your appetite in the summer, drink jaljeera in the morning as it will assist in restoring it within a few minutes.

How To Make Jaljeera
The following is a very simple jaljeera recipe:
- Make a mixture of all the condiments and spices, such as mango powder, cumin, black salt, ginger, and lemon juice
- Mix the ingredients in a glass of cold water
- Be sure to mix it well and chill it and enjoy!
