Oil
Oil acts as a preservative. That's why oil is added to pickles. The pieces of the pickle absorb lot of oil. If you over consume it, the risk of cholesterol and heart issues may increase in the long run.

Bloating
Pickles can also cause bloating. The sodium content in the pickles can cause water retention.

Salt
Pickles contain lots of salt too! Hypertension, swelling and water retention are the side effects of eating too much of salt. Pickles are not good for your blood pressure.

Kidneys
Even your kidneys get loaded when you eat too much of pickles. The ingredients of pickles may irritate your kidneys.

Digestion
Pickles can also upset the digestive system when consumed in large quantities. Diarrhea is one side effect.

Gastric Cancer
Some studies claim that excessive consumption of spicy pickles could significantly raise the risk of gastric cancer!
