World Food Safety Day: How To Properly Store Veg And Non-Veg In Fridge?
World Food Safety Day is observed on 7 June every year, with the purpose of bringing attention to food standards. Each year, 1 in 10 people throughout the world suffer from food-borne illness, so food standards go a long way in protecting us.

As part of its annual Food Safety Day celebration, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) announces a new theme. The theme for World Food Safety Day 2023 is "Food Standards Save Lives". It emphasises the importance of food standards in safeguarding lives and preventing food contamination.
On this World Food Safety Day, let's take a look at one of the most common things that confuse us from time to time, how to properly store veggies and non-veggies in the fridge.
How To Properly Store Veg And Non-Veg In Fridge?
Storing veg and non-veg items in the fridge correctly is an important part of keeping them fresh. Vegetables and fruits should be stored in the cold drawers of the fridge to keep them from drying out.
In comparison, meat and fish should be stored in containers or wrapped tightly with plastic wrap or foil to prevent any juices from leaking and contaminating other produce in the fridge.
Here are some tips on how to store veg and non-veg correctly in your fridge:

For vegetables:
• When storing vegetables, make sure that they are washed thoroughly before being placed in the fridge.
• Vegetables should also be stored in breathable containers or bags that will help keep them from getting soggy or losing moisture.
• It is also important to keep vegetables away from any raw meat or fish, as this can contaminate the vegetables and cause them to spoil quicker.
For non-veg items:
• Make sure to store non-veg items such as meat, fish, and poultry in separate, sealed containers or bags.
• Place these containers on the top shelf of the fridge where they are less likely to drip onto other food items.
• Non-veg items should also be stored away from vegetables to avoid cross-contamination.

On A Final Note...
In general, it is best to store vegetables and non-veg items in separate parts of the fridge. This will help to keep them fresher for longer and reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
Additionally, make sure to check the temperature of your fridge to ensure that it is set at the appropriate level to keep food fresh.
