10 Scary Side Effects Of Being Overweight That You Never Knew!
It is said that about 10 percent of all the cancer-related deaths in the world, annually, are related to obesity!
So, you can only imagine how serious this condition is, right? If a common ailment like obesity is responsible for fatal diseases like cancer, then what else is in store for people suffering from this lifestyle disease?
Although, by now, most people would know how dangerous of a disease obesity is, thanks to all the awareness created among people, some of us are still in the dark regarding this issue.
However, obesity is as dangerous a disease as cancer and the likes, as it can lead to side-effects which are multi-layered and does not just affect one aspect of your health.
A person is said to be overweight or obese, when his/her body mass index (BMI) is above normal and their body fat percentage is also very high!
Whatever may be the reason for being overweight or obese, its side-effects and health hazards remain the same for everyone, so it is very important to make a conscious effort to lose weight, before it becomes a problem.
Now, we know that heart problems, joint pain, etc., are some of the common side-effects of obesity.
Have a look at some of the most unexpected side-effects of being overweight or obese, here.

1. Constipation
Normally, constipation, a condition in which people find it difficult to pass stools, as it is hardened in the intestines, is associated with digestive disorders and diet habits. However, obesity is also one of the causes for constipation, as excess body fat can also harden the stools in the intestine.

2. Memory Loss
Memory loss is something most people would never associate with obesity; however, when there is excess fat in your body, the cholesterol levels also increase. When you have high cholesterol levels, it can degenerate your brain cells and cause memory loss and early onset dementia and Alzheimer's.

3. Gall Stones
A gall stone is a condition in which bile, fats and cholesterol hardens in the gall bladder, turning into stony deposits, causing a number of undesirable symptoms. One of the main causes for gall stones is obesity, because of the excess fat and cholesterol content in the body.

4. Migraine
Migraine is a condition in which people experience intense headaches and other symptoms, due to the inflammation of the nerves. A number of research studies have found that migraine is also associated with excess fat content in the body, which prevents the flow of oxygenated blood to the head.

5. Premature Birth
Many of us may already know that being overweight or obese can increase the chances of infertility in women, due to hormonal imbalances. Also, obese women are more at the risk of delivering premature babies, according to research studies, again, due to hormonal imbalances caused by excess fat.

6. Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is a condition in which the cartilage bones of the knees, ankles and elbows harden and the movement of these joints becomes painful and difficult. It is said that excess body fat is responsible for this condition in many cases, as a lot of pressure is applied on these joints due to too much body weight.

7. Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancers in men, which affects the prostate glands. Having excess body fat can cause the prostate glands to enlarge, which may trigger the development of cancerous cells in that area, thus causing this deadly type of cancer.

8. Uterine Cancer
Just like how prostate cancer is caused by being obese or overweight in men, uterine cancer is caused in women, due to the enlargement of the uterus, because of the presence of excess body fat.

9. Endocrine Disorders
The endocrine glands are a group of glands which produce various functional hormones into the blood, necessary for your body. Excess body fat can prevent the healthy production of endocrine hormones, causing a number of hormonal imbalances.

10. Fungal Infections
Many research studies have shown that people who are overweight or obese are more at the risk of developing fungal infections because when there is excess body fat, a lot of perspiration is produced and sweat can cause fungal infections in various parts of the body.
