LFW WF 2015: Dia Mirza Walks For Anita Dongre's Grassroot
Anita Dongre presented a beautiful collection on the ramp of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015. The designer paid a homage to the skilful hands of traditional craftsmen through her ‘Grassroot' collection, a manifestation of a mélange of couture and prêt.
Anita Dongre, the mastermind behind AND and Global Desi collaborated with various NGOs across India in an attempt to sustain, revive and empower the craft work.
With her collection, Grassroot, Anita Dongre tried to revive the dying craft and with a need to ensure that it is sustained, the designer presented a collection which was recently flagged at her store in Mumbai.
‘Grassroot' features the art of block print, tie-dye, chikkankari, jadau and copper-jute jewellery. Ahir embroidery from Radhanpur and Patan that's exclusive to the Ahir tribe of Gujarat were also seen in Grassroot as her close association with the SEWA Trade Facilitation Centre.
The 80-year-old Bhachiben Bhurabhai Ahir, the founding member of SEWA Trade Facilitation Centre, amd Diana Penty are the ambassadors of the collection. Anita Dongre had a Bollywood celebrity to represent Grassroot at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 ramp.
Anita touched everyone's hearts when the Indian weavers walked the ramp.
The show started with Dia Mirza giving a brief intro on Grassroot and then the show concluded on a grand note. Anita Dongre and Dia Mirza were accompanied by Indian weavers on the ramp and this was a heart touching end to the day 2 of LFW 2015.

The stunning Bollywood beauty introduced Grassroot and was also the showstopper. Dia wore a black maxi which had mirror work on the bodice.

Monochrome
Anita Dongre added brightness to her collection with lots of monochrome prints.

Grassroot

Mirror Work
The designer used traditional mirror work on beautiful colour pallete consisting of hues of red and jet black.
