A Handbag 66 Million Years in the Making

The bag is inspired by the T. rex, a dinosaur that went extinct around 66 million years ago, but this isn't made from actual dinosaur skin. Instead, scientists have developed a lab-grown leather using collagen linked to fossilised T. rex remains.

Researchers extracted tiny fragments of collagen from dinosaur fossils and reconstructed the missing parts using advanced biotechnology. This recreated structure was then introduced into living cells, which produced new collagen that was eventually turned into leather.

The result? A material that mimics traditional leather, but comes with a prehistoric twist and a futuristic purpose.

Where Science Meets Luxury

The handbag has been designed by fashion label Enfin Levé, known for experimental and avant-garde creations. The piece itself is a teal-coloured luxury accessory, embellished with sterling silver and black diamond details, elevating it firmly into the ultra-premium category.

Currently, the bag is being displayed at Amsterdam's Art Zoo Museum, where it's placed dramatically inside a cage beneath a T. rex replica, almost like a conversation between past and present. Visitors can view it until May 11, after which it will head to auction.
