Spicy Mushroom n Garlic Masala Recipe
Mushrooms, the spore-bearing fungi is loved by vegetarians. However, there are many veggies who do not like to eat mushroom because of its appearance or taste. You would be surprised to know that the small mushrooms have many health benefits. For example, it helps fight cancer, boosts up immune system, fights free radicals, aids better digestion and is good for the heart too. If you check out the nutritional value of small mushrooms, it is a rich source of vitamin D, antioxidants, potassium, copper, selenium and fiber to name a few.
There are many types of mushroom that you can use for preparing delicious dishes. Mushroom chilli or mushroom manchurian are ideal snacks for starters. What about main course? Mushroom garlic masala, side dish recipe for main course:
Serves: 3-4
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- Mushroom- 250gms
- Onions- 2
- Green chillies- 5-6
- Tomato-2
- Ginger- 1 inch
- Garlic pods- 7-8
- Curd- 2tbsp
- Grated coconut- 1tsp
- Tomato ketchup 1tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Red chilli powder- 1tsp
- Coriander powder- 1tsp
- Dry red chillies- 2
- Cinnamon- 1 inch
- Clove- 1
- Bay leaf- 1
- Garam masala- 1tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 2tbsp
- Chopped coriander leaves- 1tbsp (for garnishing)
Procedure
Wash and cut the mushrooms into slices.
- Meanwhile, grind onion, ginger, garlic, cinnamon, green chillies, dry red chillies and clove together. Add very little water to make a semi-liquid paste.
- Take out the paste and keep in a bowl. Now grind tomato and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a skillet. Season with bay leaf and then add the grounded onion paste. Saute on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
- Add turmeric powder, salt, coriander powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
- Pour the tomato puree and bring it to boil. Add the grated coconut, curd, tomato ketchup and garam masala. Mix well and then add mushroom slices.
- Add little water if you want to make a gravy. If not, cook till the gravy thickens. Cook for around 4-5 minutes on a medium flame.
Mushroom masala is ready to eat. Serve this hot and spicy side dish with rotis or rice.
