Masala Mirchi: Side Dish Recipe
Bharwa mirchi is one of the delicious and spicy side dishes which is served in the Indian cuisine. The stuffed green chillies taste yum and can be teamed up with rice or roti.
Bharwa mirchi is known as stuffed green chillies. The stuffing for bharwa mirchi can vary depending on taste and like. You can either use besan or just add the basic spices to prepare the stuffing. So, mirchi can be used in different ways to make your meal more spicy and delicious.
Here is a simple masala mirchi recipe that is very easy to prepare and not that spicy as well. It hardly takes 10 minutes to prepare this mouth watering side dish. In this recipe, the green chillies are cut and then fried in oil. Later spices are added and the side dish is ready to be served! Take a look.
Quick Masala Mirchi, Side Dish Recipe

Serves: 3
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
- Long green chillies- 5-6
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Red chilli powder- 1tsp
- Coriander powder- 1½ tsp
- Small green chilli- 2
- Amchur powder- 1tsp
- Mustard seeds- ½ tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Lemon juice- 1tsp
- Oil- 2tsp
Procedure
- Cut the long and small green chillies into 1 inch sized pieces. You can even slit them if you want.
- Heat oil in a frying pan. Season with mustard seeds. When the seeds start to splutter, add the chillies.
- Saute on a medium flame for a minute. Add salt and turmeric powder.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes till the green chillies become tender.
- When the chillies look cooked, add red chilli powder, coriander powder, amchur and mix well.
- Now sprinkle lemon juice and mix well so that all the ingredients are absorbed by the chillies.
- Turn off the flame.
The side dish is ready to be served. Have masala mirchi with rotis or rice.
