Special Jowar Roti And Brinjal Curry Recipe
Parathas, chapati or roti is a common dish that most of us prepare on a daily basis. These are prepared using either wheat flour or maida. If you are bored of preparing the same old thing, we shall teach you a totally different and delicious recipe.
Today's special recipe is the jowar roti and brinjal gravy. This is a very famous dish in North Karnataka. The combination of jowar roti with brinjal gravy is the best thing that you can prepare and have today, as it tastes different from the usual.
There are many health benefits associated with having jowar roti regularly as well. It gives you strength and increases your immunity level.
Jowar is rich in minerals such as iron and phosphorus. It prevents anaemia and also controls the cholesterol level in the body.
So, why wait, read to know how to prepare jowar roti and brinjal curry.

Jowar Roti
Serves - 4
Cooking time - 10 minutes
Preparation time - 10 minutes
Ingredients:
- Jowar flour - 4 cups
- Salt
- Hot water
Procedure:
- Take the jowar flour in a large bowl.
- Add some salt to the flour.
- Then add hot water accordingly and mix it well.
- Make sure not to add more water, as it may become too sticky.
- After the dough is completly soft, take a small portion of it and make it into round balls.
- Take the round dough and place it on a flat surface.
- Now, put some jowar flour on to the surface and then place the dough and start flattening it by using your palm and fingertips.
- Meanwhile, place the pan on the stove. Once the pan has heated, place the jowar roti and heat it on a low flame.
- Heat it on either side of the roti.
Brinjal Gravy
Serves - 4
Preparation time - 15 minutes
Cooking time - 20 minutes

Ingredients:
- Brinjal - 6 (blue coloured)
- Groundnuts - 1 cup
- Chickpeas - 1/2 cup
- Coconut - 1/2 cup
- Jaggery - 2 teaspoons
- Tamarind paste - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Dry red Chillies - 5 to 6
- Onions - 1 cup
- Tomatoes - 1 cup
- Coriander strands - 1/2 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/4th teaspoon
- Oil
- Salt
Procedure:
- Take a mixy jar, in that add coconut, onions, tomatoes, groundnuts, chickpeas, coriander strands, cumin seeds, tamarind, jaggery and salt. Add very little water and grind it well.
- Keep about 1 tablespoon of the mixture aside.
- Cut the brinjal vertically into four pieces (make sure not to cut the base) and add the stuffings into the brinjal.
- Now, take another pan and add oil. Once it has heated up, add the mustard seeds, chopped onions, turmeric powder, curry leaves and chilli powder.
- Then, slowly place the brinjal in the pan.
- Now, add the left-over ground mixture to the pan, along with some water.
- Add salt and close the lid of the pan.
- Cook until the brinjal becomes soft.
Serve this yummy and delicious recipe with the jowar roti.
