Paneer Tikka Masala: Delicious Vegetarian Recipe
North Indian cuisine is full of delicious and mouthwatering recipes. Not only non-vegetarian but vegetarian recipes are equally tempting. There are a variety of dals, curries and side dishes which are simply irresistible. The tandoori items are especially the most tempting ones and their unique taste makes your taste-buds crave for more.
Paneer is the most loved item in most North Indian households. Any party, potluck or similar occasions are deemed incomplete without having paneer on the menu. So, here we have a special North Indian paneer recipe known as the paneer tikka masala. It is cooked in the tandoori style and then made into a spicy gravy. The taste of this finger-licking paneer recipe is just unforgettable, and it is a must have on your menu.

Ingredients
- Paneer- 250gms (cut into cubes)
For tikkas
- Capsicum- 1 (diced)
- Tomato- 1 (large, de-seeded and diced)
- Red chilli powder- 1tsp
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp (crushed)
- Coriander powder- 1tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Yogurt- 3tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Oil- 1tbsp
For gravy
- Onion- 1 (large, minced)
- Tomatoes- 2 (medium, pureed)
- Ginger-garlic paste- 2tsp
- Coriander powder- 2tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1tsp
- Red chilli powder- 1tsp
- Kasoori methi- 1tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Fresh cream- 2tbsp
- Coriander leaves- 2tbsp (for garnish)
- Water- ½ cup
- Oil- 1tbsp
Procedure
- Marinate the paneer pieces with yogurt, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, crushed cumin seeds and salt for 20 minutes.
- Insert the skewers through the paneer cubes, capsicum cubes and tomato cubes, forming a pattern.
- Heat a tawa and grease it with oil. Place the skewers on it and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side. Keep the flame on low.
- Use tongs to turn the skewers and make sure all the sides of the paneer and other vegetables are browned properly.
- Once done, switch off the flame and keep the skewers aside.
- Then heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and minced onion. Fry for 4-5 minutes on a medium flame.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for 2 more minutes.
- Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Then add the pureed tomatoes. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Crush the kasoori methi between your palms and add it to the pan. Mix well.
- Add salt and water. Bring the gravy to boil.
- Add fresh cream and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes. Allow the gravy to thicken.
- Now slowly remove the paneer, capsicum and tomato pieces from the skewers and add it to the gravy.
- Mix it lightly. Cook for one more minute and switch off the flame.
- Garnish the gravy with chopped coriander leaves.
Delicious paneer tikka masala is ready to eat. Serve this mouthwatering vegetarian recipe with naan or parathas.
