Spicy Gongura Chicken Dry Fry Recipe
This afternoon we have a special treat for you to indulge in. If your in love with chicken, then this is a must try recipe. Gongura is nothing but red sorrel leaves. These leaves are often confused with spinach because of their uncanny looks. Just like spinach, these leaves are highly nutritious and have a ton of health benefits too.

Gongura leaves are rich in vitamins and contain a lot of iron. When you add these leaves to a chicken dish you are consuming a very healthy meal. Therefore, to prepare this yummy Andhra recipe of gongura chicken, take a look.

For gongura chicken fry recipe, you will need a lot of spices. So, make sure you have a bottle of water to cool your tongue.

Cooking Time: 25 minutes

You Will Need
- Chicken - 1kg
- Gongura leaves - 100 gms
- Onions - 2 (chopped)
- Mint - handful
- Red Chilli - 10
- Water - 1 glass
- Chilli powder- ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Ginger and garlic paste- 1 tsp
- Masala powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric - ½ tsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Coriander Leaves - 1 sprig
- Water for chicken to boil.

Procedure
- In a mixer, add the red chillies and the coriander leaves. Make a paste of the ingredients and leave aside.
- In a pressure cooker, add the washed chicken pieces. Add water for it to boil.
- To the chicken add in the chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, ginger garlic paste and allow it to boil. Allow the chicken to boil for two whistles.
- Remove the lid and keep aside.
- In another pan, add oil. Wait for the oil to turn hot. To the pan, add in the finely chopped onion, turmeric an little ginger and garlic paste. Sauté it a bit.
- Now add in the gongural leaves and fry. Add in the ground paste of red chillies and coriander.
- Add a little water so that the mixture doesn't get burnt.
- Now add in the cooked chicken to the pan.
- Add salt to the chicken and mix well. Close the lid of the pan and make sure it cooks well on a low flame till done.

Gongura leaves are highly nutritional. They contain Vitamin C which improves eye sight and promotes weight loss.

Tip
Don't allow the gongura leaves to burn while you saute it. The leaves have a sour taste so make sure your fry it well.
