WIFW 2014 Day 2: Maia By Nachiket Barve
Inspired by the Maoris culture (based in New Zealand), Nachiket Barve showcased a unique collection at Day 2 of the ongoing Wills India Fashion Week AW 2014 ramp. The costumes and Ta Moko tattoos of the Maori women were reflected in his collection which is named, MAIA.
Keeping in mind the sanctity of the Moko tattoos, Nachiket created patterns Kirituhi Tattoos which are abstract designs based on the original Moko tattoos.
Fiber made skirts with woolen felt applique and embroidery were seen on the ramp. Cloaks made with Kiwi and Kea feathers have been reviewed using silk fringes. Intricate bead work, 3-D thread work, tie-dye fringes, colour blocking, zippers and cut out details were seen on the ramp.
Culottes, boxy tops, mini length dresses,palazzo pants, oversize jackets and capes were seen in Nachiket Barve's collection at WIFW 2014 ramp. Velvet, tulle, tussar, Georgette, chiffon, crepe, raw and other types of silk and faux leather were extensively used fabrics in his autumn winter collection.

Maori Textiles
The textiles, embroidery and prints were inspired by Maori women costumes.

Sheer
Sheerness added the sensual charm to the ramp. Loved the flared blue gown which has a sheer bodice and heavy thread embroidery.

Lip Art
Models carried a unique lip art painted on their chin which looked different.

Mini Dresses
Some beautifully printed mini dresses were also seen in his autumn winter collection.

Piu Piu Skirt
Fiber made knee length flared skirts with embroidery looked nice.

Cape
Flowy printed capes looked nice.

Faux Leather
Black faux leather skirts were beautifully blended with printed tops.

Fringes
Fringes looked chic on the ramp.

Oversize Slouchy Jackets
Embroidered oversize jackets looked bold and retro!

Printed Pants
Colourful printed pants with thread embroidered sheer blouses and shirts looked bold.

Nachiket did not have any celebrity showstopper.
