Cannes 2013 promises to be a very desi affair with many celebrities opting to wear Indian clothes. Vidya Balan, Ameesha Patel and Sonam Kapoor have already declared that they will carry the Indian look at Cannes. The Cannes red carpet is no stranger to Indian clothes. Indian veteran Aishwarya Rai has visited Cannes in Indian outfits many times.
Bollywood celebrities are planning to carry the Indian look at Cannes 2013 to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema. Lehengas and sarees at Cannes 2013 will set the desi mood for sure. This is the perfect time to take a trip down memory lane to some of the best Indian looks at Cannes. Most of these ensembles belong to Aishwarya Rai at Cannes.
During her initial years at Cannes, Aishwarya Rai wore only Indian outfits. Later she chucked the sarees in favour of gowns. Here are some of the best Indian looks that we have seen on the Cannes red carpet so far.

Aishwarya Rai In Yellow Saree
Aishwarya Rai wore this golden yellow zardosi saree for the Cannes Film Festival in 2002. The heavy gold necklace was a serious mistake but the saree was demurely beautiful.

Deepika Paukone In White Saree
Deepika Padukone attended Cannes in 2010. She dazzled the red carpet in a white and gold saree created by Rohit Bal. This saree was worn with contemporary gold jewellery and her RK tattoo was clearly visible.

Aishwarya Rai In Net Saree
Aishwarya Rai walked the red carpet at Cannes with husband Abhishek Bachchan wearing this lovely black, off-white and wine coloured net saree. Ash wore a full-sleeved blouse with this Sabyasachi saree.

Nandita Das In Red Silk Saree
Nandita Das attended the Cannes Film Festival in 2005. She wore this brilliant plain red silk saree with a thin golden border. She tied her hair back in a bun and wore a slim tiara to complete the Indian look.

Ash In Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla
In 2012, Ash was struggling with post-pregnancy fat. She wore this amazing cream colored Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla saree with a full-sleeved blouse.

Sonam Kapoor In Masaba Gupta
During Sonam's 2011 visit to Cannes, she wore a lovely black and white polka dotted saree from Masaba Gupta. Sonam wore this chiffon saree with a full-sleeved black blouse.

Ash In Shimmering Net Saree
In 2010, Ash pulled out another great saree from the Sabaysachi couture. She wore this shimmer black net saree with a sleeveless blouse and pulled her hair back into a neat bun.

Ash In Pink Lehenga
Ash wore a pretty lehenga with a pink choli for her 2003 visit to Cannes. She pulled her hair back into a messy bun and carried the dupatta like a stole.

Nandita Das in Yellow n Red Saree
This simple and traditional Indian silk saree was carried to great effect by Nandita Das at Cannes 2005. The yellow ochre saree had red border and was worn with a red blouse.

Ash In Neon Green Saree
During her first visit to Cannes, Ash wore this bright green saree with a golden spaghetti strap blouse. Her top knot was a mistake but the saree looked cool enough.
