Fashion Alert: Dual Coloured Sarees 'In'
Saree as a garment is just as old as our Indian civilisation. But the saree designs and styles keep changing with time. For example, single coloured and plain chiffon sarees came into fashion after the movie 'Chandni' in the 90s. This saree design stayed in fashion for almost a decade. But recently, Manish Malhotra's collection at Lakme Fashion Week 2013 has announced that dual coloured sarees are back in fashion.
Dual coloured sarees have two colours. One colour is the dominant colour that covers the body of the saree. The other colour is the border colour that shades the saree. Manish Malhotra's show stoppers Priyanka Chopra and Kajol wore dual coloured chiffon sarees to end the show.
Apart from Manish Malhotra, another designer who has shown a great fetish for dual coloured sarees is Masaba Gupta. Her saree designs are pretty unique because of the patterns on them. However, if you observe closely, they are actually dual coloured sarees. Traditional these kind of sarees were called patli pallu sarees. Although dual coloured sarees are more common in chiffon, it can be found in silk or cotton too.
