David Beckham's Esthetician Talks About The Skincare Dos And Don’ts
David Beckham is easily a global sensation - even people who do not follow football, sure do know who Beckham is and that's on his skills and dashing looks!
The secret to Mr. Beckham's well-balanced skincare routine is his facialist, Nilam Holmes - an expert who has a career spanning more than 30 years and is extremely popular and in demand.

An article in Vogue recently discussed the skincare dos and don'ts that Nilam Holmes wants people to be aware of.
Skincare Dos And Don't s According To An Expert
1. Exfoliation and cleansing are key
Two of the most important things you can do to maintain your skin include cleaning and exfoliating. These products eliminate all things nasty from your pores, including make-up, sweat, and excess oil, as well as pollutants, dirt, and dead skin cells [1].
This creates the perfect canvas onto which serums and moisturisers can be applied. Choosing a cleanser with exfoliating ingredients is an excellent option if you cannot do both.
2. But, don't over-exfoliate
Many people over-exfoliate. If you're having sore skin, it's probably because you've worn down your skin barrier. Nilam said to Vogue that her favourite thing is micro-dermabrasion because it just dissolves the glue that holds dead skin in place, not new, healthy ones.
3. Hydration is key
You need water for your cells, and pretty much everything else, so you need water to stay hydrated. Your skincare routine should also include hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acids. Glycerine is also really good for hydration and is largely underrated. It's awesome for attracting moisture too [2].

4. Use the correct retinol
Although retinol is the gold standard for anti-ageing and cell turnover, there are several types of retinol available: retinol, retinal, retinoid, retinoic acid, tretinoin, and adapalene, for example. Again, there may be a temptation to use the strongest product, but the strongest product might not be appropriate for your skin.
Someone with acne might use adapalene, while someone with severe sun damage and wrinkles might use tret. Tret is a new type of skincare that is becoming increasingly popular among people looking for an alternative to traditional skin care products.
Tret is formulated with natural ingredients that are said to be gentle as well as effective in treating a wide variety of skin conditions [3].
It is important to consult an expert before incorporating retinol into your routine.
5. Formulations and percentages matter
Sometimes we get distracted by trending new ingredients but remember it's all about formulation. Vitamin C is great, but it's quite aggressive, so the wrong formula or percentage can irritate your skin a lot.

People tend to opt for a higher percentage because they think it's more effective, but that's not always true [4].
Always talk to a skin specialist before incorporating anything new into your skincare routine, especially if you have oily skin.
